“We put in 100% on every project for our clients, and deliver software that exceeds their expectations.”
I was working for an airline company, as part of an outsourced team, the first time a recruiter called me to talk about Rulesware. I was at the gym, and I have to admit I was a little doubtful that this tiny company would be able to provide me with the challenge I was looking for. But I knew that I needed to make a change if I wanted the opportunity to demonstrate my skills and work directly with clients, so I returned the recruiter’s call and set up an interview for the next day.
So much has happened since I joined Rulesware in January 2012.
I could never have imagined how quickly the company would grow, and what great opportunities I would have as part of that growth. I spent my first six months working on internal projects which I enjoyed, but that summer I was invited to join a client project, working with our largest client in Texas. I was promoted to Lead Engineer, and in that role I became the lead on our very first client project in El Salvador.
Our project team was only 7 engineers back then, and we worked very hard. We put in 100% on everything and the project was a success as a result. I worked closely with Ashish Sharma, who helped us to troubleshoot along the way. It was great having the support of our team members in the US.
Since that summer I have contributed to a wide array of challenging and exciting projects for this client. We now have over 60 consultants working for this client, and in fact have been selected as their principal BPM partner.
We have been key to the creation of the operating structure of a core program, created the governance structures and methodologies that helped the program grow, have shown how to structure and deliver solutions in a SCRUM environment, and also demonstrated how the client could manage parallel efforts through a managed services offering, allowing their internal leadership to deliver more functionality, without the need to increase their management team.
I am very proud of the role that I’ve played in the growth and success of both our client and of Rulesware. I like that I can work directly with our clients, rather than being an ‘invisible’ offshore resource. I enjoy the direct contact, and see that being able to take meetings, answer questions, run demos and respond to change requests helps me to build my skills – both personally & professionally.
It’s funny. When I was with the airline company I was actively working to acquire a work visa so that I could move to North America. I thought this was something I needed to do in order to advance my career. Last year Rulesware offered to relocate me, but I decided to stay in El Salvador instead.
I realized that I have what I need here, which is a great feeling. We have a young, energetic team, and there is enormous opportunity for growth and advancement.
I love that everyone here communicates respectfully, and that we can contribute to a diverse range of projects.
Our CEO encourages us to get involved in charity events, and always welcomes our ideas – about everything from how to set up the office, to our hiring processes. He even moved here with his family this year. This makes Rulesware very different from other companies in El Salvador.
This is an open environment where everyone’s efforts and contributions are recognized. I am very proud of the capacity and intelligence of our team, and of the excellent work we do for our clients.
