By Rudy Samayoa, Lead Engineer, Rulesware El Salvador
I joined the Rulesware team as a Pega Developer in January of 2012. Pega (or PRPC as it was called then) is a software product from Pegasystems, and is a core component of their BPM suite. I was one of the original six team members (pictured to the left – I’m the second in, in the back row) hired to work in our El Salvador office when we opened our doors that month.
Since then I have watched our team grow quickly, with more and more Rulesware clients embracing our On-Site/Near-Shore (Hybrid) delivery model.
Today we have over 90 team members in El Salvador.
Today I am a Lead Engineer, working mostly on projects for a client who is a leader in payment processing. They, and many other Rulesware clients, choose to work with a hybrid team of both on-site team members, as well as members of our team here in El Salvador, because they recognize the time and money they can save by taking advantage of our deep pool of talent in El Salvador.
Once their projects get underway, they also discover that our team in El Salvador gives them the very best communication and consistency, from beginning to end. Our clients work with the same team members throughout, so that all the accumulated knowledge and expertise is maintained throughout the lifecycle of their project.
Our team here knows that communication is crucial for every project. We make sure that our teams are working on the same schedule as our clients, which is easy to do because we are in the Central Time Zone. Working collaboratively, in the same or similar time zones, ensures that our clients get the answers they need, when they need them.
We are committed to making sure that communication flows easily between the client and our engineers. Our clients know that they can contact any team member at any point in time, and they quickly see that we are ready to respond at any moment, when questions arise. I know that our clients are happy with the great progress that they see, on a daily basis, because of our open communication and responsiveness.
To give you an idea of a Hybrid team works, we usually distribute the work between our on-site and near-shore teams as follows:
Rulesware’s on-site team will …
- Gather initial information about the project directly from the client.
- Ensure a clear understanding of requirements.
- Accommodate any changes as needed.
- Provide ongoing client and partner management.
Our near-shore team in El Salvador will …
- Create a detailed design based on the specifications.
- Be responsible for the progress of the project.
- Provide ongoing development services.
- Continuous support to the on-site center.
Of course every project is different, and we adjust our teams and roles to suit the specific requirements of each of our clients. No matter what project structure our clients choose, I know that our focus on communication and consistency play a key role in giving our clients confidence that we’ll complete their projects successfully.
I am proud to have spent the last two years being part of Rulesware’s near-shore team, and look forward to working with many more clients who see the benefits of our hybrid delivery model.
